Oh I'm so excited to see my book was stolen out of the game so soon.

I'm always nervous when picking the book for this swap.

azuki wrote: Hey GG I kept planning to return to this to respond but keep forgetting. Anyway, from what I have read, yes you can save a bit of your homemade yogurt to start the next batch. However, what other people say is that the starter you make from commercial yogurt lasts only a few rounds and then it's too weak and you have to buy some more store yogurt. What you can get though, is a heritage yogurt culture. Like sourdough starter, it's supposed to be immortal.

I really like the idea of an "immortal" culture, but I guess that's what I've got in my kombucha. It'll just keep going and going and breeding new SCOBYs if I keep giving it new sweet tea to ferment.

And yoghurt is quite cheap here in the Netherlands, you can buy a literpack for 1 euro...
Yet another reason to move there! ;)
Making things from scratch is an important life skill, as is understanding where foods come from and how they get to be the way they are. what's your favourite complicated food-thing to make for yourself?

I've had a busy day: early AM dr appts, errands, grocery shopping, staff meeting, work a shift.

I'm literally dosing off as I type this, so I'll wrap up now.

I meant to reply to this, but then forgot.. well, I love to make bread (and cakes). It's fascinating how with some flour, yeast, water, sugar and salt, you can turn it into something else entirely.

Oh and I love to grow my own fruit and veggies. This year I've rented an allotment which I have always wanted to do but never did (I used to grow things in containers). Was so excited to pick out seeds and think what I could grow and eat (also so many things I've never seen in supermarkets or heard of before - which is part of the fun of growing your own :) )

Has anyone seen the new mini-series of Little Women? It was on the BBC around Christmas I think.

I heard about it but I haven't seen it because it was on the BBC I'm not in England and I don't get BBC America. I heard it got mixed reviews but I am hopeful that it will turn up here in the states on PBS sometime down the road.

messed may be more descriptive for Azuki!!! :D

Good morning from the Southern United States. So happy that our weather is getting back to normal. I despised cold weather and today it's back to the 60s for highs. My heater will enjoy the break as well.

I'm hoping to get a little reading in today. I've mentioned before that my library is switching from Overdrive to RBDigital and I'm trying to get through the books I have downloaded quickly. The reviews I'm reading for RBDigital are not great and I'm afraid my library experience will be less than stellar. I've already voiced my displeasure to the county Librarian and will do so again if the new app is as bad as the reviews make it seem. Her response to my first email was that RBDigital had a bigger selection of magazines. I'm not sure why more digital magazines is good if the app doesn't work well for any of the digital content. In my opinion magazines should not drive the selection of a digital platform. How does it work with books should drive the selections. Are there really that many more people getting magazines digitally than books and audio books? Ugh, I'm bitter about this change. Can you tell?
