I'll be traveling to Chicago in July for a conference and I'm trying to schedule a long weekend to take advantage of the "free" airfare. I've never been to Chicago before. Is there an active group of bookcrossers to meet with in the Windy City? I can't recall anyone here, but figured I'd ask.

I know there is an active bookcrossing group here in Evanston (North suburb of Chicago). There used to be an active group in Chicago, but I've lost track of them...

Both groups have pages at meet-up.com if you want to poke around there :)

Isn't Mojosmom from there?

I didn't realize BC groups were still using meetup.com since it went pay service. I'll check there.

I got to meet mojosmom at the convention, but didn't get to talk to her so I didn't realize she was from Chicago. I'll check into that. :)

She is. In fact I saw her walking through downtown Chicago once and almost walked up and asked her "are you mojosmom?" but I was shy. I've never actually met her but recognized her from the convention photos that had been posted right before the sighting.

I actually get a few bookcrossing members sending me invites to meet-ups I'll see if I still have the most recent one in my inbox...

Alas, my travel plans didn't give me much extra time to walk around the city (basically flew in for the conference only). And the weather hit 100 three of the days I was there, so only left one book in the airport. :( I would love to see the city, but the middle of a heat wave in July is not the time to go!

the heat wave in July was no fun for those of us living here as well. Hope you have more time to be a tourist the next time you make it out this way.
