Ok, I've been totally slacking off the read-a-thon but I have been having a ton of fun with the new kitty. Her name is now Goose. :)
All the kitties named after other animals! My daughter's cat is named Raccoon.

😡 I went out to my freezer (in the garage) and discovered it at stopped working and all my meat, vegetables, etc. were thawed and ruined.  There was quite a bit too because I had stocked up during the quarantine. Certain items were hard to find, so when I found them, I bought extra.  My husband and I cleaned it out and he checked the plug and temperature settings. We turned it back on and will let it sit for a day or so to see if it works. If not, then I guess we are buying a new freezer.

On a brighter note, I just finished listening to "Doctor Who Missy #1: The Lumiat" , courtesy of Kiri
Kathy,   so sorry to hear this.  That's such a blow, especially with all the food in it!  Let me know what happened.

fwiw I think mine has failed, (It won't get cold..and I'm not sure how to check the freon on it)  But I was fortunate that it was working, then I cleaned it out (I do that at least once a year to keep things timely) and then it wouldn't get cold when I turned it on.   I miss it..

How did you like the missy tale?
My husband thinks the timer that controls defrost got stuck. He's bought a new timer and is installing it right now.  I just got it in August 2018. It's not that old :(

I liked Missy! I signed up for the website and will probably be getting more of them. Thanks again!

Why Goose?

My boys are Loki and Thor. We didn't name them. The person who found them thought that Loki looked like he was wearing a helmet when his ears curled backwards (he had long ear tufts) and his brother Thor was a muscular baby.  We kept their names because 1. They had already started to respond to them when we got them, and  2. their names totally fit their personalities.

Day 12

My list of books:
(Title, Series, Author, Format, Started At, At Now)

American Demon (The Hollows #14) by Kim Harrison, audio, 80%, 100% finished on Day 1
Slay by Brittney Morris, ebook (library copy), 52%, 100% finished on Day 2
A Wrinkle in Time (Time Quintet #1) by Madeleine L'Engle, paper, 35%, 100% finshed on Day 11
Tess of the D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy, audio, 0%, 100% finished on Day 12

and since we are continuing until tomorrow night, I will be reading:

Cress (The Lunar Chronicles #3) by Marissa Meyer, ebook (library copy), 10%, 10%

I had borrowed this one from the library at the beginning of June and only read 10% before it was gone from my reading app. I requested it again and it was finally available for me two days ago. Great timing!

I listened to several hours of "Abandon" today. I really like the author, Blake Crouch.  I've read/listened to several of his books and I like them. Just the right touch of horror - to make it scary, but not horrifying. If that makes any sense.

I've been reading about 2 chapters each night of "Phantom Tollbooth." Can't believe I missed this one as a child and again with my own children. When I get finished, I'm giving my copy to one of my grandsons.

I had Goose on my short list because I loved the Captain Marvel film. My husband independently suggested Goose because of the way she hisses when she sees the dog. And it just suits her, because she’s a silly girl. :)
