ok I'm doing audios, but only when I'm actively doing other tasks.. cause I'll fall asleep if I'm not.   *head desk*
I have a question.. does work-related book reading count?

So I finished
MBS: The Rise to Power of Mohammed bin Salman by Ben Hubbard

I forget who the narrator for this was, but he was engaging.

Mini-review: Some of this covered what is generally known via the news cycles, however the author has personal experience with the subject and many around and involved with him.  I found this informative, and in a few instances startling.
and I'll finish this one in about an hour.
Panic in Level 4: Cannibals, Killer Viruses, and Other Journeys to the Edge of Science
           by Richard Preston
fwiw Richard Preston narrates many of his books, and he's excellent at it.

Mini-review: This is somewhat of an overview of Preston's work, and the topic in general.  He also informs the reader (listener?) how he does his work as the book progresses.
Other reading - I finished some comics that were on the tablet.  These sampler trials are kinda fun!
Ash & Thorn 001 (2020)
Star Trek Magazine 075 (2020-05)
Star Wars Insider 196 (2020-04) (PDF-rip)
Deadpool 004 (2020) (Digital) (Zone-Empire)
Firefly 015 (2020) (Digital) (Pirate-Empire)

not continuing these..
Belle Oath of Thorns 06
Dying is Easy 004 (2020)
Folklords 005 (2020)
The Cimmerian - Queen of the Black Coast 002 (2020)  [Conan The Barbarian]
Hidden Society 002 (2020
Outlawed 001 (2020)
Rising Sun 003 (2020)
Shang 001 (2020)
Tomorrow 02 (2020)
Tarot - Witch of the Black Rose 121 (2020)
TMNT - Jennika 001 (2020)
Spider-Woman 001 (2020)
Valkyrie - Jane Foster 009 (2020)
Guardians of the Galaxy 003 (2020)
Angel & Spike 010 (2020)
George R.R. Martin's A Clash of Kings 003 (2020)

======
Lastly Masks...  I have an N99 mask (military grade and has a replaceable filter) that I bought during the firestorms when you simply couldn't go outside without one - if you wanted to breathe.  I can't recall at the moment if N99 is more than the N95's in filter protection, but if anyone would like the link to it let me know.  I got it off amazon.

Lemmy, how do you make the covers all stay the same size?

I have not managed to read anything. I've been making masks all weekend and tonight, and working from home normal work hours. So not much time to relax. I'm hoping to get a few minutes of reading in before bed, though. Dunno what I'll read.

I've got two masks complete, and 35 more that just need pleats.
Do you ever listen to audio? Now would be a good time to give it a try. Listen while you sew! Audible is offering a large amount of free listens right now. No login, no putting in any info, just pick a book from the free listens and stream.   https://stories.audible.com/start-listen
I listen to audio more than I actually read paper books. I get most of them through the library, though I've bought several on Chirp when they're on super sale.

The problem is that the sewing machine is loud and I miss stuff when I listen. Though, I have listened to a book this week and started another, so I guess I can count them.

Pepper,  If it helps, I got a new pair of "headphones" for christmas.  They are bone-conducting and you could wear them while driving, if you can't just play audios in the car.  For me they work, and I can still hear if I need to.  Also I don't like things IN my ears, so my other headphones cover my ears.   These have a volume and pause button on the headset..and it takes calls while pausing your book/podcast/etc.   If anyone is interested..  https://aftershokz.com/products/aeropex

They wouldn't cut the noise of the sewing machine, and I admit to having to pause them (or turn it way up, which does work) while using the Vitamix.  But otherwise they are stellar headphones imo.

I've been drooling over bone-conducting headphones for a while - they're out of my price range, unfortunately. When I'm in the car, I can listen through my bluetooth on the car stereo, though I'm mostly at home these days. (I'm only Uber driving part time now, and my bank job is one I can do from home, fortunately.)

I finished listening to "Always Be My Banshee" and started "You're Never Weird on the Internet" by Felicia Day. I'm going to try to read more of "Lights, Camera, Puzzles" before going to sleep.

I listened to another chapter of The Hound of the Baskervilles and the latest episode of the Uncanny Magazine podcast this evening while sewing another scrub cap. Last night I listened to a few chapters of an audiobook and sewed ten masks. This sewing thing is way more relaxing than I remember from when I was a kid.

Seriously so happy to have a RAT to check in with everyone right now, even if I am not doing a lot of actual reading. It’s nice to hear what everyone is up to. The big excitement in our household is that my hospital cafeteria has started offering carry out pizzas, so tomorrow my husband does not have to cook. I think that will stretch us to two weeks between grocery runs, so he’s quite excited. :P

I use:

http  ://images.amazon.com/images/P/XXXXXXXXXX.01._SY190_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

with the img and /img brackets, and replace the Xs with the ISBN (and no space after http but I put one in here, so it would not make it a link)

I don’t know from where I got it, but I’ve been using it for a few years.

Thursday, Apr. 09, Day 4
Update for Wed. Apr. 08, Day 3

My list of books:
(Title, Series, Author, Format, Started At, At Now)

Digital Fortress by Dan Brown, paper, 67%, 100% Finished on Day 1
Pale Demon (The Hollows #9) by Kim Harrison, audio, 22%, 22%
Fire Ice (NUMA Files #3) by Clive Cussler, ebook (library copy), 0%, 23%
- - > The Awakening (Darkest Powers #2) by Kelley Armstrong, paper, 0%, 100% Finished on Day 3

I finished the Armstrong and really wanted to get into the 3rd book in the series but I’m keeping my schedule and will continue with the Cussler and Harrison. I would like to have them both finished by tomorrow night. I listen to a lot of audio, too. Usually it’s while I’m in the car and when I’m cooking or crafting.
It’s raining/snowing today, very grey and damp. I’m glad I don’t have to go out. I went shopping on Tuesday and got home feeling very stressed due mostly to panicky people at the shops. Everyone is scared and I don’t blame them.
I know I have a Thomas Kincaid painting in a 1000 piece puzzle stashed away somewhere. Maybe after this rat I’ll look for it and put it together.
