I too appreciate all the mods, and what they have to put up with, it's a thankless job a lot of the time. Honestly I think you could do with a couple more, just to help out, since you've taken on the job of tracking the books. I waver back and forth on whether I would want to be one or not. Often things you try to do aren't received in the way they were offered, and that's very frustrating. I had enough of that being a supervisor for only a while at work, and everytime I think I might want to be a mod, I remind myself of those experiences, and the other times I've been in charge of a project, all the frustrations that have gone along with it. It's very difficult to remain objective in disputes and not get your feelings hurt, and I think we've seen it doesn't always happen despite the best of intentions.

I feel we have a pretty balanced group of mods, but I think you could use a few more.

just my opinion, if anyone is interested in it.

I'm guessing the answer is, "So that people who were a little irked or hurt or felt excluded have the chance to say so". And hopefully to have some other people say, "I'm sorry you felt that way; we never meant to hurt your feelings". Or whatever.

I'm not one of the ones who felt hurt or anything, so I hope this is a fair assessment.

:flower:
And what they should be saying is we will bring all decisions to be discussed as soon as we can. However the situations we have to deal with fast will be dealt with and you will informed asap. Unfortunately I don't think the mods 'get' this and frankly I am tired of banging my head,

This is a community unlike others on the net and that is why most of us are here and not there. Let's face it Sand appointed 'her' friends to be mods. There is a clique and that is the way it is. I can understand where hurt feelings have come into play on this issue.

I appreciate the work the mods have done but if you are not happy then let someone else volunteer.
And do you not think my feelings have been hurt? I get frustrated and want to quit because I feel unappreciated at times. Yes we done these rules without the general consensus of the group. And that IMO in retrospect was wrong. Sorry.
Yes Sand and I are good friends but I volunteered back during BookRelay days and CR said sure. Then when we had to move over here I volunteered again. I've been here the whole time through thick and thin. Yes I've wanted to run away from the infighting on the boards sometimes but I don't. That's my anxiety kicking in. :sigh: I think I am level headed and fair minded. I'm keeping the spam off the board by checking every person's email address and user name that registers to make sure they aren't known spammers.

Well I missed this one until now! Nothing like a good debate to keep bookobsessed interesting!

Ladies & Gentlemen, give a little credit to the long standing memebers *applause* and the hard working mods *applause*.

I suggest our (your, mods) priority be keeping this community on fair playing field. Mods should not dictate or lay down the law (in the future) just as new members won't be excluded. Everyone's worth the same as the next.

Ah, sorry Sunny, I hadn't seen your original post with the dead horse smiley - I love it and I suggested to Cherie that she bring it into our board smilies! :)

Well, I've completely re-read this thread and I do think all the questions were addressed. The one outstanding item I see that needs to be worked with is the wording of the 4th guideline - several people mentioned this or something similar with regard to better definition of harassment. So - can we work on that? Maybe we can come up with some better wording that will make everyone more comfortable with it?

Man! You guys were all civil and stuff.

I didn't even get a chance to break out my popcorn eating smiley.

Surely there's another fight going on somewhere on the net... *giggle*

I always think of Romeo and Juliet (the movie, sorry, never actually read the thing) where they say "you are banisheded" -- I dunno why. One of those weird inside-Candy's-Brain things.
