Finished listening to "The City We Became". A disappointment. I doubt I will get the other books in the series when they are published.

I'm now listening to "She Persisted", a children's book of short biographies of famous women. So far, I've listened to the Harriet Tubman one and liked it.

I gave up on my two e-books because NetGalley gave me a copy of Jenn McKinlay's latest "Library Lover's" cozy, "Killer Research".  Library Lover's is my favorite series by Jenn, so I'm sure it will get me out of my "I don't like anything I'm reading right now" mood.

Azuki - what is Codenames?  Your book looks fun!
Hope you are feeling better!!
Codenames is a group game. I think it has been popular for the last couple of years but of course I only heard about it a week ago. Basically you have 25 cards spread out, each with a word  on it. There are two groups, each with a few members plus a spymaster.  The spymasters have access to the key card which show, of the 25 cards, which one belongs to the red team and which to the blue teams, plus a black card and some yellow ones. The spymaster has to give a one word clue to the team members so they can guess the cards which belong to the team. The clue is the tricky part, you need to give a clue name that will only link to your color's cards but not your enemy's or the other cards.

For example, the cards "PARIS"  "RAY" "RING" belongs to blue, "RUSSIA" "BEAR" "CAT" to red. The spymaster would like to give one clue that fits multiple cards, because the faster you uncover all your cards your team wins. So instead of give one clue for on card you want to give a multiple cards clue. Say, the blue spymaster can say BOOKCROSSING as clue, and hope that someone in the team is a BCer and knows about RAY  and RING. or he can suggest ROMANCE, and the members may pick paris and ring. But they won't want to say Europe, because someone may pick Russia as well, giving a point to the enemy. If they play it safe, then they can say FRANCE, but that would only net them one point. Similarly, the red spymaster can say ANIMAL, thinking of bear and cat, but someone may pick ray as well, thinking of sting ray. So a better clue would be CLAW.

So, it's an easy to learn game, with endless variation, takes a lot of brain power.

Who mentioned the Orphillium Reading Challenge?  It looked like it might be interesting. ..  but i'm not sure I want to spend time making avatars online.  (is that required?)  **looking for details!
That is me too.
You totally don't have to make an avatar. Some make it for fun, and even write a whole fan fic style journal about it.

The readathon used to be a HP themed one, where you are a Hogswart student, select your house and your career choice and read books based on that. eg. if you study herbology you may read a book w a plant on the color, for divination a book set in the future.  A couple of years ago when JKR made some insensitive comments that turned off a lot of her fans, the organizer decided to disassociate with the HP storyline. So she created this new setup. It's kind of a RPG, you created a character that goes to a magical school.

So far, I have two characters. One is a young elf who ventured to the school in hope of studying with her big brother, whom she idolizes. She is smart, very outgoing and friendly for an elf and optimistic.

The second one is an earth earthling Tjørn.  The trees are dying off so she wants to go to the magical school hoping that she can find out how to save the trees.

I can't narrow down to one character, so right now I've enrolled both in, but I think at some point I won't be able to pay both tuitions. (I mean, the reading requirement for the prompts would overwhelm me)

And again, I didn't draw them. I just went on picrew.me and play around with all the dress-the-doll options.

I finished "She Persisted". I really liked it and I am going to encourage my granddaughters to listen to it. They are 11 and 10, 6 months apart in age, and I think that is the right listening level for this book.

I'm now listening to "Assassin's Apprentice" the first book in the "Farseer Trilogy" series by Robin Hobb. I read this series years ago and I'm enjoying listening to it.

I am reading "Killer Research" by Jenn McKinlay and I'm enjoying it.

Since I'm feeling better, I'm up going places and spending more time at the computer. My husband bought me a 2nd monitor for Christmas a couple of years ago so while I'm working or playing on the computer I'm watching old TV series. Right now I'm alternating between re-watching "Enterprise" on Paramount and "Castle" on Hulu.

I've been without internet for a couple of days. It's been start and stop or freeze up for a while now. ATT were doing a lot of work in the area, so I assumed the outages were due to their working on it and didn't bother calling, but they have been finished awhile and it was still happening. I did all the things here at home they told me to do and it stopped working altogether. Seems someone around in the neighbor dug a hole too deep and cut one of the wires. It took them about 3 or 4 hours yesterday to fix it.

I finished "Assassin's Apprentice" and started on the next book in the trilogy "Royal Assassin". I also finished "Killer Research" and have gone back to reading "The Last Librarian".
