Just wanted to check in and see if y'all wanted to renew the bookobsessed.com domain for using with this forum? Cost is $14.78 per year and I usually try to renew for multiple years whenever possible. (I did 3 years last time). We currently have $12.16 in our BObs Paypal account towards it.

In the past, we used to be able to self-support the domain renewal through the Amazon affiliate program. But unfortunately, they canceled that on us a few years back since we didn't have a "public-facing" page here on the forum where they could verify the link. Unfortunately I haven't had the time to investigate other options for fundraising. Or how to have a forum link showing on the front page without having to log in.

So anyway, if you'd like to renew it, feel free to send donations over to https://paypal.me/BookObsessed. There's also a link in the sidebar on the web interface (not sure about mobile). This is a completely separate Paypal account from my personal one so the funds have always been kept separate.

I had meant to state, in my original post, that without the domain name, everyone can still access the forum via it's tapatalk domain: http://tapatalk.com/groups/bookobsessed . So it's not like it wouldn't be accessible without it, but obviously the domain name makes it easier. (Plus I currently have the PayPal account set up through my BookObsessed email addy—cherie@bookobsessed.com—so a bit of reconfiguration would be required not only for the forum itself, but the management of some of the back-end stuff. Probably easiest not to have to deal with that 15 days before its set to expire! 

So yeah, just something to think about going forward. I'd love to eventually make this forum self-supporting again, as it was when we had the Amazon affiliates, but I haven't had time to ponder new ideas for how to manage that. Hmmm something just occurred: maybe via the blog we once set up. We could encourage Obsessors who have their own blogs to cross-post to it and also put that public-facing Amazon link out there. That way, Amazon wouldn't have anything to complain about with the link being hidden. Just some food for thought. Though I wonder how many people still blog... I kind of gave it up when I stopped accepting NetGalley books. Every once in awhile I'll post more than a star rating to GoodReads and Amazon.

What about you and everyone else? Who still blogs and do you think we could populate that blog at least a little bit and then put the Amazon link out there (in addition to reinstating the private one here as well of course).
