Bib, you might want to check the other list too. Members with Outstanding Commitments
I did indeed mail k_kay her birthday package. It must have gotten lost in the mail. I'm not sure what happened there. As for the wss4's Reading Diva book for last May, I'm taking care of that today. Thanks for pointing me to that list cheese, didn't know I was on it.

On the 6-month list filter on the database, when I try to sort by sender, it sorts by recipient instead. Is there a trick to it?

I noticed that as well, thought it was just a glitch. I ended up downloading the list as an xls and sorting in excel, but that might be more than you want to do.

Thanks to a heads-up from someone else on the forum, I have been informed that I'm on this list, which I didn't even know existed in the first place (as I've only just returned to BookObsessed recently) and I wasn't contacted by anyone before I was placed on this list. Apparently I'm inactive or I owe a book, but I last posted on BookObsessed just two days ago and I had contacted the organiser of an exchange I'm in of the book that I was going to send Ms January and had requested a list of what other books she was receiving. Could someone please tell me what's going on or I somehow owe someone else a book that I don't know about? Some help will be much appreciated, thanks!

I just checked the 'Owed Books' database. I had already sent out 'Notes on a Scandal' to livrecache, which has already been received, read, and journalled by her. Can someone tell me about the process involved with wishlist relays? I wasn't aware I had to report in to someone when I mailed out a book.

PS. Also just realised I made a mistake, I hadn't posted two days ago, but it was recently...

Just realised that I had another book "owing" as per the database. BellaMack had sent me a PM offlist via BookCrossing, saying that she didn't want The Virgin Suicides anymore (can't remember the reason anymore but I believed she got another copy elsewhere) and requested for John Grisham's The Chamber instead, which I sent almost two years ago now. Journal entry here: http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/3990515. Hope this helps to clarify things.

Hi leeny37! Welcome back to the forum and thanks for posting - I'll try to answer your questions. First, this forum is maintained by volunteer moderators - we don't contact people before putting them on this list - we rely on our members to help us keep the database up-to-date and keep track of their book transactions. There are several of us who do updates to the database and occasionally, if someone has the time to do so, we pm people to ask questions regarding missing information and such, but basically, we don't have the time to devote to contacting people. I see from your following posts that you've now checked out the database and found why you appeared on this list, so I won't explain that further - though I will mention you may want to read here, if you haven't already:

This is a link to "5 Things You Need to Know" - which is under the Site News and Announcements section - it explains quite a bit. Now, on to your other posts........

I've updated the database on Notes on a Scandal for you - thanks for the info.

The process for wishlist relays should be that the sender comes back to the thread and provides the details and link for the book chosen - same with "choice" relays like the ones where you choose 3 books you'd like and the person decides on one to read and send you.

Again, we rely a great deal on our members to get this kind of info into the database. The gal who maintains the relay portion of the database can't keep going back again and again checking for names of books, so if the name isn't there when she's adding to the database, she will put "book of choice" or something like that - or the book name without the link if it hasn't been provided. On occasion, when someone has time, they will go back in and try to update those entries, but we really need our members help with that.

I know that this has been mentioned within various relay threads, but it's been a difficult thing to have stand out as people tend to just be looking at the most recent offer in the relay thread and not reading back through. I did, however, notice now that this is not mentioned in the posted instructions for relays - so I've just added it there now. I will try over the coming days to make this more visible for the relays in some fashion.

You don't have to report in to someone when you mail a book - what we do ask is that you make a JE on the book to say it's been mailed - as we DO regularly go through the database and follow the links to Bookcrossing to look at the status - we update Mailed and Received accordingly. However, if we don't have the book link - we can't do that - and it's very time consuming to hunt down links when they aren't provided. Same issue with a book that has been substituted - in that case, you do need to let one of the moderators know so we can update the database with the substitution info - OR you can register with zoho and maintain your own book info - as many members do. You can find more info on that under Site News and Announcements as well.
