elsi is now off the list for July. I went to the post office yesterday with 19 books that I mailed out.

hi did we change the 6 month criteria?

i was under the impression that the 6 mth counts to the first of that month. That is, the july list will include those who have books oustanding before Jan 1, and Aug list for Feb 1.

Guess I missed the announcement because now the July list is up to mid Jan. So, while by my calculation I am caught up with the books all of a sudden I am not. There are swaps and boxes I am looking forward to and now I can't play? And the reason I didn't send out a book was because I was planning to include a RABCK I was reading, now I felt stupid.

So, just to clarify, are the lists going to cut off on the 12th of each month fm now on? I want to be sure because I don't want the same thing happening, that I will think I am all clear and then a book swapped on the 15th bumped me to the bad list because somehow the cut off changed to include books up to the 16th or sth like that.

No the cutoff didn't change - I haven't had time to doublecheck appa's list to see if it's correct. It should only be to the 1st of the month. I've had no time the past few weeks and appa did me the favor of doing the list, but probably did it as it stood on the day she was preparing it. I'm sorry I didn't get the list up on the 1st of the month and I'll try to come back here this evening and get it fixed up. No worries, azuki.

But a note on Azuki's question -- I know for the VBBs the 6- month criteria is based on when the box begins for the month. So if I start a VBB on the 10th of the month and you owe a book from the 9th of the month 6 months prior you will be listed as not being able to remove from the VBB. We had this discussion over in one of the VBB threads a while back.

Thanks CdnBlueRose... I do hope I get off the list aftter all. It doesn't feel good to be on the naughty list whether or not I believe in Santa. I've always been a good girl - okay, borderline good, otherwise I would have mailed out my books before the swap is even over! But it was an unpleasant surprise.

And thanks wss4 for the clarification! So does it mean you don't use the posted list but go and check the up-to-date database directly? Guess I will have to dig up that thread.

Yes, we go directly off the database. I will see if I can find the thread. I don't remember which VBB it was in when we were discussing it.

ETA-- It may even have been discussed with the mods via PM. I am not sure Azuki. I don't remember, but I do know that it came up in one of the VBBs and was decided that this list was just a basic guideline, but that the actual database was what we would use to clarify eligibility.

I do not check the DB but I check the list. I start the audio VBB on the first of the month and use whatever list is most current. If I am supposed to be checking the DB why have a list at all?

Wss4 - I do remember that - and that would be a host/hostess decision - whether to use the actual database. There were people who didn't want to do that and that's why this list was originally created - but no one has time to keep it updated daily, so we try to do it once per month - it's for those who don't want to go to the database. I think this is just one of those things that there was no general agreement on - so this list was better than nothing for those who don't care to use the database - and we've been using it as the "official" list, knowing that the actual list would/could change on a daily basis. I hope that makes sense.......... I think most folks here know that some like the database, some hate the database, some will check the database, some will never go to it for any reason - and all the variables possible in the scenario... This was kinda a compromise - meet on some middle ground.....

Ideally, I'd like to NOT have this list as it seems difficult to maintain - it's not the easiest thing to produce, and if it's not done on the 1st day of the month, it takes even more work to produce.... but what about those members who don't care to use the database themselves? Maybe it's time to do another poll and see what the general membership wants now that these things have been in place for awhile??
