Sorry for the delay in getting back in touch on this. Had PantheaCon last weekend, at which I stayed on-site 4 days and troupe performed on sat nite there, then came back home to catch Mike's bug, which I didn't catch before since I rarely catch cold/flu/bugs, but combined with con crud... ummm yeah I'm a snotty, stuffed up, sneezing and coughing mess! :cryblow:

Anyhoo, my thoughts are thus, based on input from y'all. Otherwise known as The Ramblings of a Medicated Mind :wacko:

For leaving a couple forums open, let's make that the 1 or 2 in the Support Section: Site News & Announcements (mod started subjects only) and/or Feedback, Suggestions, Problems (this one, more discussion oriented and thread can be started by any member).

We'll make a couple sticky posts in one or both of said forums about how to reset a forgotten password and/or contact one of the mods/admins if necessary, including publication of admin(at)bookobsessed and/or mod/s(at)bookobsessed email addresses. **

Also, maybe an overview post, also stickied in the Site News forum about the purpose, play, and how to of the different areas of our forum. This would also serve to give guests/potential members a little more info about the site, esp the parts that are now locked behind the member wall. If anyone would be willing and able to write something up for this, that'd be awesome. :thumb:

In our intro text (that paragraph I pasted before that Meshe quoted above), we can then direct guests to those posts for more information, and not have to make the Intro overly wordy.




** Confirm email addresses for all mods/admins on admin and mod/s(at)bookobsessed mailing relay lists. Also remove addresses of mods from list that are no longer active or avail to help.

If we're going to lock down everything, which seems the preferred direction, I figure we should get that overview written up first--a description of the activities that go on here and to which we can direct potential members. Place that in either the Announcements or Feedback forum and leave only those one or two forums open to public viewing.

And then that intro that guests see before they're logged in, we can direct them to that description post to tell them what we do behind the curtain. :D

If that sounds like what y'all want, let's go with it. If no one is available to write up said description, I'll do my best to get it started. Though since I don't take advantage of all the areas myself anymore, I might be a bit rusty on some of the exchange/play areas.

After my surgery on the 22nd, I've got 5 days where I have to do pretty much nothing, so if no one has stepped forward to write up something before then, I'll give it a whirl. :)

How detailed do we want to be with this description? I started trying to write something up and realized it's going to be alot of information. That's ok I guess, but I was just wondering how detailed we wanted to be and if we want to try to cover all our 'games'?

this is just a start and it may not be what you had in mind at all. I hope I've set this so that anyone can edit it. I'm so dumb when it comes to this kind of thing that I'm never sure if I've gotten it right or not.

Anyway, use it or throw it out and start over. I won't be offended. :kiss:

Meshe, that's EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thanks for starting it up. :worship:

Now if we can just get some of the others who participate more in those other sections to fill in the blanks, it'll make for a great pinned post to link in the description area we talked about. :thumb:

That's great Meshe - as I haven't been around for a while, the only ones I know anything about are the swaps..But I'l keep commenting on this to keep it bumped!

I have no idea how to make it editable for everyone :shrug: . If someone can give me instructions I'll be happy to make it editable.

Great job Meshe thanks for starting this.

I'd say keep the description of the games (or you can just call it activities) more concise.
