To allow time for the Literature in Translation Swap, how does a May Day start sound?

Just to recap from our discussion thread, & feel free to add more thoughts in this thread.....
Not travel guides & not about living in a new country, unless there are lots of travel tales involved - books about travelling, the weird & the wonderful. Writing about where you've been, what you've done, how you felt etc. Treks across the desert by donkey, across China by tricycle, etc. There are some terrific travelogues around by all sorts of writers.
