Pepper, we aren't going to do that - they need to all be handled consistently, not have different handling for some people just because they happen to be the mbag organizer. All mbag books mailed to an organizer are marked mailed at the time they go to that person - they are not marked received until they actually arrive with the mbag recipient. When an mbag organizer has a book ready to the mbag, they can mark them mailed as well, and put a note in the comment field indicating that the book is held for the mbag - that way all books for mbags appear the same way - under MAILED status. The reasons you mention are exactly why we chose to do it this way.PepperVL wrote: Um... can I put my own books on hold? The only way to see that a book is on hold is to look at the individual book (if you click on Edit for one of your books that's on hold you'll see a little box there on the right side that says on hold.) We didn't have a separate tab, and won't likely make a separate tab, because the hold status was intended to be quite a rare thing to use. Maybe a separate tab for books on hold the way there's a tab for mailed books?
Anyway, we are not going to use hold status for mbag books. We will continue to use MAILED status for all books held by the mbag organizer, including the organizer's books themselves as long as they are indeed ready for the mbag and not TBR, and they will be marked REC when they arrive with the mbag recipient.

I just happen to notice that books that were owed by The M-Bag organiser were being set as mailed even though they were not really mailed.
I guess I just disagree, cause it gives me much more work when I check the mailed status of all the books and every time I click and think, O darn, this book is not really mailed.
Right now I am so far not to click on pepper---xeyra books anymore that are mailed. . Maybe it is just trying to remember all the m-bag holders, so I do not have to click to all there mailed books anymore in vain.
So I wasn't talking about let's say azuki owes xeyra a book and sends them to the M-Bag holder, then the book was really mailed, but when the m-bag holder owes a book to xeyra and set them as mailed. that was what i meant.

I need some direction on this, just to clarify. When I receive a book for Amber's M-bag, I don't do anything with it other than put it in her box. Should I PM the person who sent it to let them know it was received? Should I journal it on bookcrossing?
Also, if what I am reading is right, if I owe Amber the book and put it in the m-bag, I can't count it as mailed? What if Amber doesn't fill the box in 6 months, can I not play because the M-bag has not been mailed?

I've been journaling the books as they get here for Xeyra's m-bag. Yes the mods have agreed to that.
I just explained or tried to, guess I did not manage to, how it can work as a disadvantage and makes it harder checking the mailed books .
But I am not the boss. I just wanted to give my 2 cents, not to get people confused.

However, we're more concerned with getting books in the mail (or m-bag) as after that we have little to no control over them. Getting the book mailed is what determines if someone can play in swaps, vbbs, relays, and exchanges.
Since if we don't do anything, the m-bag holders won't be able to play as they collect for m-bags, and marking them on hold means that we'd have to constantly let mods know to put things on hold and take them off hold, etc. it seems that marking them mailed is the easiest and most efficient way to do it (plus it just makes more sense to have all the books in in the m-bag set to the same status). I wish there was a way that we could do it that it would be easier for you as well.
Maybe (and we'd have to talk to Cherie about this, as it involves coding), we could add a 4th status? Owed, Mailed, Received, and M-Bag? Then when someone mails a book to an m-bag holder, or if the m-bag holder puts the book in the m-bag, it can be marked as m-bag and you won't go looking for it. The only issue I see with that is that I won't have the ability to mark the books other people are sending to Xeyra as mailed when I do mail the m-bag. But maybe the m-bag status would allow you to add a third person who is able to edit the record - the m-bag holder.
