Marlene wrote: Hi there. Sorry I missed this conversation.

I just happen to notice that books that were owed by The M-Bag organiser were being set as mailed even though they were not really mailed.

I guess I just disagree, cause it gives me much more work when I check the mailed status of all the books and every time I click and think, O darn, this book is not really mailed.

Right now I am so far not to click on pepper---xeyra books anymore that are mailed. . Maybe it is just trying to remember all the m-bag holders, so I do not have to click to all there mailed books anymore in vain.

So I wasn't talking about let's say azuki owes xeyra a book and sends them to the M-Bag holder, then the book was really mailed, but when the m-bag holder owes a book to xeyra and set them as mailed. that was what i meant.
I'm not quite sure I follow you as far as clicking through the links - for the mbag books, no matter who mailed them, there's no need to click on the links until we know the mbag has been received by the end recipient as, even though most people are actually mailing the books to the mbag organizer, we aren't marking them received until the arrive with the final recipient.... so, for example, I wouldn't bother clicking on any of the Mailed Books links for books owed to Xeyra, no matter who the sender is, because we know that they were only mailed to Pepper. Now when Xeyra announces that her mbag has been received, THEN we could go through all those links and mark them all received. So, I don't follow why this is making more work for you, CFF?

Also, if what I am reading is right, if I owe Amber the book and put it in the m-bag, I can't count it as mailed? What if Amber doesn't fill the box in 6 months, can I not play because the M-bag has not been mailed?
When I used to do mbags for people, I made a J.E. whenever I rec'd a book - that let the sender know that it arrived safely with me - then I marked it RES until I mailed the mbag - then I made J.E.'s saying the mbag was mailed. Not everyone does it this way, though.

If you owe Amber a book and it is ready for the mbag, not TBR, then mark it mailed and in the notes put that it is in the mbag, then it does not count against you. :)

I'd like to chime in on this If I may. IMO letting the sender know it has made it *to* the m-bag helps, and the zoho db could reflect that I suppose. (you aren't listed as a recipient so I don't think it'd not alow you to play) but it would allow the sender to indicate they've done their end and the recipient to know it is "in" the m-bag for when it gets full. (whenever that'll be)

Um.. past that I s'pose it is the db hostesses call. Personally being a sender I figure if it has made it *to * the m-bag I've done my bit and the recipient will get it (technically has just not in person yet - if that makes sense) Then you can indicate when the items go out as part of the m-bag when you mail it too.

Pepper's Idea of the "m-bag" as a 4th status has merit. how that could be incorporated or work out I don't know. But I like it.

Something to revisit at a later time... perhaps next year when I don't have a million more urgent things on my plate. :)

Of course, any other web developers are welcome to look at it if they think they could learn the coding and tackle it themselves, but I know of only a few other people in this group that are as techie as me and I'm not sure that either has the time or inclination to get involved in such a project themselves, esp since it would involve starting from scratch in them getting up to speed. But I'm certainly open and willing to accept applicants.

Please add Butterfly-noir to the m-bag I'm doing for Xeyra. People can mail books owed to her straight to me as well, and I'll send them on to Xeyra with her books, and then Xeyra and Butterfly will get together.

Can I make a suggestion? It might be nice to add an "mbag" column to the obsessors list just in case others aren't peeking at this thread. It would tip off someone looking up an address that there is an mbag running. (it would have helped me to remember / know when I joined!)
Something like
(column head) Player ... Mbag by
(sample line) Xeyra ... PepperVL

I'm not sure of another Obsessors List other than the BookObsessed Address List, but since I agree that it's a good idea for it to be noted in several places, I went and added a note to the Notes field for everyone that has an entry there. :)
