I just got a copy of a 2007-pubbed book with a broken spine. There's no way I'll relist it once I've read it; the pages are just too close to falling out.

Is this worth complaining over? Is it against the rules?
Hmmmm.... It might be skirting the edges of rules a bit. Under what's postable, it says bindings:

"Must be intact, with no separation on the inside or outside of the book
If the book tends to open at a particular page, this is OKAY
Small amount of fraying or denting at top or bottom is OKAY "

How does the book fit with the first one?

I would think there would be some separation if the pages are close to falling out. Unfortunately, that's the kind of thing that R&R don't get into, so the most you can do is PM the other person and ask for your credit back. You might get a nice person, but then you might not

*I* think there's a definite separation.

If R&R won't get involved in that sort of thing, then I'm not going to bother. I'll just quietly get around to reading it one of these days and give it away on my blog with the note that the spine's broken and it's verrrrry fragile.

I sort of wish there was some form of feedback, but even that can be abused like this rule was. There's just no good recourse that lets a person have their say.

Anyone else getting a "down for maint" page when they try to access it? Just wondering because it also gives me a browser error?

I was having problems earlier accessing it. I did manage to sneak in and mark a book mailed, but they have been having problems all morning.

Yeah, it finally let me in long enough to print the label, but it took forever for it to load. Thanks! At least I know it's not just me!

I've had brand new books sent to me with a broken spine. With PBS though I don't know if that's against the rules. Since you can't list the condition.
I'm no longer a member of PBS for this and many other reasons! They cheated me BTW, but I don't want to get into a heated discussion over that! I am now a BookMooch member and I really like it over there, a much BC friendlier place! Plus, you get partial points for listing books and marking them received, a nice bonus!
