So, as I'm sure folks who participated last year recall, our dear zzz announced he was retiring from co-hosting our annual Best Of book swap. I know that there were various other BO folks who helped him co-host in the past, so I wanted to get as many of us on board with figuring out who would officially host/co-host, settle on dates, and all that other jazz.

I'm willing to take on one of the host mantles (Pacific Standard time zone), but it would definitely be best if we have two folks in different time zones/participation times to help folks field rules questions, etc.
I seem to recall that the swap usually started around my birthday (January 10), which is a Tuesday this year.
I expect we ought to adopt the rules as they stood in previous swaps. They seem to have worked in the past. Does anyone have any suggestions for improvement?

I think the rules have always worked well. I'm not comfortable hosting as I'm not very computer savvy and seem to screw up the thread if I do more than post. I hope someone will help and that we are able to have this wonderful swap. It's my favorite. I definitely plan on playing if it's a go!

I can help. I'm way rusty. It's been years since I hosted one.

Yes, I agree that the rules as they have stood are solid. And it's probably better to keep them as they have been rather than change something because that would likely cause confusion.

Thanks GG for starting this thread.

I think the 10th works for the swap. As it's a looong swap it doesn't matter whether we start on a week day or weekend, I think.

As for the rules, I think the most trouble we had in the past is the 12 hours rule, or whether we should go ahead and use a move or not. Not so much the rule - which is rather clear set, but the execution of it.

 Thank you, GG, for getting us going on this! I would miss this a lot if it didn't happen. I am off the hook for co-hosting since I am in the same time zone as you.

Agree on the rules as they stand, and I'm able to help update as needed when I'm at home, just not during the working day, since it keeps getting made clear to us that anyone done on the computer at work is owned by work, so yeah, better not.
