Volcanoes permitting I am due to visit New York (4 days), Phoenicia, NY state (5 days) and Boston (2 days) in July. Bringing my husband and 16 year old daughter for their first visit to the States. It would be great if anyone would be able to meet us for coffee/chat or help us plan our itinerary - advise what we must see or do.

Well, I plan to be in Boston for the UnCOn but that won't be until Aug. It would be lovely if somehow you can make it, but otherwise I will miss you...

Hmmm...I may just miss you in New York. I'm moving from New York to Missouri some time in early July.

But I'd be happy to talk to you via email about things to do/places to stay/places to eat/etc. if you tell me what you're interested in. I've lived here for over a decade, so I have some good info at this point.

Azuki? When is the UnCon? I'll be in Boston August 1-7 for a computer conference.

It's the week after, 13-15! Can't believe you'll just be missing it! I may arrive a few days early to tour around town and meet my friends and cousin who live there but doubt I would be a whole week early either.
Looks like we need some secretary to aligh our schedules better...

I will also be in New York in July! My first visit to the States and I am really excited about it!

I am there on the 5th to the 12th. Would be great if anyone has any tips...will be around etc

Maybe someone can give me some advice about maybe visiting another city for the day? Is it possible to go to Philadelphia for the day on the train for instance?

Thanks but we'll be in Boston at the end of July. I would have loved to attend the Uncon but weren't able to come in August. Have fun.

Pooop again. We arrive in NY on the 14th. I really haven't planned this trip very well.

The train from NYC to Philly is a fun trip; several hours, though, so you might go out one day and back the next. Or consider NYC to Boston for a fun day trip.

Candy -- my conference ends on the 6th of August and I typically would take a couple of days vacation at the end of the conference. But I probably won't hang around Boston until the following weekend.
