On June 23th my husband Russell and I will be participating in the 12th Annual Ride for Roswell (our 3rd annual ride). Our goal is to raise as much money as we can to support the mission of Roswell Park Cancer Institute, one of the oldest National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the United States.

Despite the fact that Russell and I are relatively recent transplants to Buffalo, Roswell Park Cancer Institute and its work are close to our hearts. My father spent a summer doing research at Roswell when he was younger. And, just like many others, our lives have been touched by cancer. Various members of our families have struggled and continue to struggle with breast, prostate, and skin cancers. THIS YEAR I'M RIDING IN HONOR OF OUR FRIEND PAM who was diagnosed with cancer last year and is having a tough time of things right now. I wish there was more that I could do.

With the new developments in the field of oncology now, more than ever, Roswell Park Cancer Institute needs our commitment in order to continue to expand their efforts to understand and treat cancer in its various forms. Please consider helping to support us in this important project by sponsoring me. All contributions are tax-deductible. You can donate online or by writing a check. Specific information about making donations is available through my rider fund-raising center.

Thank you again to all of you who sponsored me last year. Hopefully this year I'll get a little closer to my $1,000 goal.

Good luck Karen in getting to your $1,000 goal - I am supporting you in this worthy cause and urge others to do so if they can.

I have a good friend who has just been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and I have had family members suffer with cancer also ...

We all wish there was more we could do - but we are doing what we can - thank you for riding in honor of Pam, who I am sure appreciates your efforts.

Yes, me too. For Pam and because I'm a cancer survivor myself. It's been 20 years in July.
