I'm way too into LibraryThing and find Shelfari too much to keep up with on top of BookCrossing, LibraryThing, and my reviews blog. So beyond uploading all the initial books on my shelf, and then keeping up with it for a few months afterwards, I've kind of stopped updating my Shelfari.

At one point, I tried to use it's widget on my blog instead of the LibraryThing one, but the Shelfari server is soooooo much slower :bored: that it slowed down the loading of my blog. They may have straightened that out, and worked on their server speed. But since then, I've also managed to snag 2 ARCs from LT's Early Reviewers group so I'm happy to just stay with them as my outside inventory source.

I think I also have an account on librarything.
Plus a very old one on bibilophil.org (I don't use that one)

What I like of librarything is that when you click on a book you see recommendations. I hope that will also come to shelfari

Well, because of your comment on my Shelfari shelf the other day, you got me playing with that more, and I am liking some of the new features they added. For instance, we can now mark books as "plan to read", which wasn't there before, only "Currently Reading" or just "on my shelf". However, when they added "plan to read", they also made all the just "on my shelf" ones onto the "read" shelf. So I've had to convert over all of those one-by-one. And I've got like 800 something books in there because I'd imported from either my LT or BC when I first joined.

Speedwise, it seems to be getting better too. It's still slower than LT, but it's much improved over it's previous speed. So for a little while, I'm gonna try keeping that up-to-date a bit more than I have been. It's still a PITA to post my review in so many different places: my local Collectorz software, the BC journal entry, my blog, and LT. Those 4 places are enough! So I dunno that I'll put my reviews there, but I will try to remember to at least move it to read and give it a star rating as I read it.

So anyway, Marlene-y, it's all you, because YOU said that my profile page was showing my Plan to Read books that I started playing some more....

Yes!!! :bananadance: I am glad.
As in said I was very pleased to see all the changes they made.
It is much easier to check your books. I am still not done registering them.
I have to add them one by one and like you said, when you add a book, it will automatically go to I've read. so I try not to forget while adding to change that into plan to read.

I like the tags to.

Now I can look at the planning to read pile and find a book I want to read. :)

I got an email about it which was dated August 28th which I'll paste below.

Shelfari joins the Amazon.com family

It’s an exciting week here at Shelfari. You may have already heard, but we were acquired by Amazon yesterday. Yeah!

Amazon has long been a supporter of Shelfari as we grew into a global community of book lovers. And now Shelfari and Amazon will work hand in hand to create innovative new ways to enjoy the books you love.

Rest assured that Shelfari will live on and only get better. We’ve got some big plans ahead. In the meantime, you’ll continue to enjoy the great community features you’ve always known and used on the site.

Go ahead and add your latest books to your shelf.

Stay tuned for great things to come.

Happy reading,

Josh
